This game is 25 years old. In the early nineties, the Rivals bought it second-hand in a mega-games purchase from a colleague at work who was clearing out a games collection .
The game "board" is a thin metal sheet marked out as an American Football field. The plastic figures have a variety of poses to reflect the different types of position. The figures sit on a base that has a dial and little legs. You set up the dials, place the figures, tuck the ball under someone's arm - and then it gets bizarre.
Attached to the metal sheet is a small motor with a cam. You switch it on and vary the speed until the vibrations of the plate start the football players moving across the field.
The big yellow figure is used to throw or kick the ball. Unsurprisingly this is even more random than the direction in which the footballers run!
But it is quite funny - and even fun for a short while. Here it is in action on YouTube and embedded below.
